The first map we published was a little confusing so this is an attempt to fix things.
Stopping Places (the numbers on the map that are close to the route traced onto the map with the heavy, black, wiggly line)
- Bellingham, Washington. Cold and wet after a quick drive over the Coquihalla.
- Portland, Oregon. Actually a bit south of Portland in the Pheasant RV Park
- Crescent City, California. We elected to go out to the coast for warmer weather and to avoid the up and down of the mountains of northern California. Been there, done that.
- Santa Rosa, California. We spent two nights at the County Fairgrounds RV Park. A little barren but acceptable, once we found it.
- Bakersfield, California. We went south for warm weather. It was -3 C overnight.
- Thermal, California. Oasis RV Park. Nice place with grass sites and oranges, lemons, and grapefruit free for the picking. We stayed three nights.
- Yuma, Arizona. We stayed for seven nights as the Cactus RV Park. A bit like sardines in a can but it was clean and fairly quiet if you don't count the train whistle and the back up alarms from the construction site next door.
- Plamosa Road, Quartzsite, Arizona. Boondocking on the desert with 70 other dedicated Montana owners. Lots of fun, especially with the RV Show, Rock and Gem Show, and the flea market close by. We drove the ten miles to town almost every day.
- Yuma, Arizona. Back to Yuma with some friends we met at the Montana rally. We stayed at Del Pueblo RV. A little more up scale with large pull-thru sites and nice facilities. We stayed three nights to get cleaned up from the desert and then headed out again.
- Imperial Dam, BLM lands north of Yuma. Close to what is commonly known as YPG (Yuma Proving Grounds), a military weapons and equipment testing range.
Ho hum, more decisions ... well I am freezing my butt off and working like a dog. Don't suppose you miss that kind of action ...? Sure hope not. Thanks for the update and the map. Wave to Mexico for me. You're very close to the Chocolate Mountains - did you know? Great golf country too. Best yet - go on a sky watching tour some night. It's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteCathy, We've done sky watching every night since it warmed up. The iPad Star Walker app has been getting a good work out. Cool breeze here in Phoenix today but still sunny.
